Schwarzwald Museum in Triberg

A bus, train or car ride away from Freiburg, high up in the Black Forest is the Schwarzwald Museum (Black Forest Museum) in Triberg, a place known mostly for it's beautiful waterfalls.

A place for all the family, there's lots to learn about the history of the region. They often put on live displays and have many displays to feast your eyes over.

Plenty of cuckoo clocks, wind organs and local costumes from the years gone by, if you like that type of thing. I am not usually into such attractions but found the whole experience entertaining.

TIP: Be careful when buying the first thing you see, there are many shops in the area selling similar goods so shop around, there are many tourist traps if one knows what to look for.

They are open every day from 10:00 to 17:00 (in summer they stay open a further hour, closing at 18:00), large groups should contact them in advance if you wish to take a tour.

From Freiburg, the spectacular view whilst travelling to Triberg is a day out all in itself.

Plenty of parking spaces nearby, for coaches and busses too.
