2008 Freiburg - Public Holidays  

The following public holidays apply to Freiburg and it's surrounding region for 2008 (Germany only). The apply actually to all parts of Baden-Württemberg and during these days, all shops remain closed for the whole day. Most workers receive the day off work. There are of course some exceptions to the rule;

• 24-hour petrol stations remain open as usual,
• Some Pharmacies, Doctors and Dentists remain active, albeit on an emergency roster / schedule (always printed in the local free newspapers)
• Emergency services such as police, firemen and ambulance services work their usual shifts
• One bakery per area opens for a few hours, for example, in Freiburg city centre a few bakeries are open, the most popular being the K&U bakery in the main train station
