Jaipur is the oldest and most popular of Freiburg's Indian restaurants. Situated upstairs in a shopping arcade (in 'Dietler Passage') with wheelchair/pram access only via the Harmonie cinema, this restaurant is both charming and friendly.
The restaurant won the prestigious "Best tasting foreign food restaurant of the year 2000 award" which is awarded to one restaurant Germany-wide every year.
Locals tend to find this restaurant very expensive when you consider that the meals are several Euro dearer than the German kitchen equivalents.
That said, portion sizes are pretty good and this is not the type of restaurant that you would go to and be done within an hour, this is a restaurant to spend the evening at.
Compared to Indian restaurants in the UK, for example, the food here is of a very good quality and a wide selection is available. The staff all speak English and are all Asian of Asian origin, meaning their knowledge of what's on the menu is fantastic and they are able to advise when customers are unsure of what they want.
Parking at the restaurant is not premitted, due to it's city centre location.
Tip: Make a reservation, they do get VERY busy indeed and you won't want to be turned away due to lack of space after arriving, smelling that glorious food.
